Most people would think of a classroom when you mention the word learning. This is completely wrong, entrepreneurship is the truest form of learning. Why? Because you learn from failure, not memorizing predefined answers on a one time test. In a classroom setting, failure is frowned upon. In entrepreneurship, failure is encouraged. When you fail early on, then you can use your mistakes to rebound even stronger.
When attending a class, the professor will provide you a syllabus with every day planned out. Students have the ability to easily manage their schedule, and know what they need to do pass the class. On the flip side, every day is different in the entrepreneurial world. There could be 1,000 ways to fail, but only 1 way to succeed. Curveballs will constantly be thrown at you. As an entrepreneur it is your responsibility to take failures on the chin, own your decisions, and execute your ideas on a daily basis. Students often take business classes about philosophies to implement in the real world. Although these business philosophies are irrelevant if you are unable to execute on them.
Entrepreneurship is truly not for everyone. The risks and pressures that come with being an entrepreneur is too much for some people to handle. Persistence through adversity is what makes someone a successful entrepreneur. You will hear the word "No," thousands of times. The true entrepreneur will have to be smart enough to come up with a problem solving idea, dumb enough to realize that the odds are stacked against them, and persistent enough to smash through any obstacle.
Entrepreneurship is not about money, sports cars, and mansions. Entrepreneurship is about (1) solving problems, (2) creating value, and (3) serving others. If you are able to check off those three boxes. Then money, sports cars, and mansions will follow. It is pertinent to readjust your incentives before you expect the flashy successful entrepreneurial lifestyle.
As an entrepreneur, expect to work 80+ hours a week to make your dream happen. Many people have 9-5 office jobs, and must pick up a 5-9 side hustle job to make their business a success. There will be days when things don't work out, but persistence is a powerful force.
